What rights do consumers have to obtain an estimate of a restoration company for water damage?

I was beaten by flooding in the Midwest of the rainy season a couple of weeks ago. Resoration a company came out and refused to give me a written estimate at the time of arrival (Fax promised me one when arriving at the office). I was told would start the computer (dehumidifiers and fans) to draw water while working on the estimate because the water was so bad. I can not provide for 3 days and was 5 times the price they had quoted another franchise of the same company. He immediately told them to remove all the team and I would not work with them, are now trying to make me pay 75% of the "Estimate", as did the "work"?

If you want one that is used or slightly damaged in some way (not noticeable all the time) then you can check at your bigger furniture stores. A lot of them have a bargain basement where they sell things that have been brought back or scratched or somewhere. If you are looking for new stuff then check out stores online. If you go to wal mart online they generally have a lot of stuff there that isnt available in stores, and its cheap.

If I want to own my own company, not a retail business, an actual company, which degree should I get?

At my university’s business college, they have 5 different majors that all have to do with business but I don’t know which would be best for learning the knowledge needed to own my own company.

Marketing, Supply chain management, and management would be better. Finance is more abstract, accounting is too specific and management information systems is basically just learning computer software (which you do not need a degree to do.)

I would also look into courses given by the Small Business Administration on purchasing and running your own business. You may find out you don’t need any degree at all. Many business owners don’t have one–and it’s not a requirement.

Can someone tell me how to cut spandex/bike shorts to use as a binder?

I’ve heard a few times about buying spandex shorts, or bike shorts and cutting them to make a cheaper binder. Can anyone explain to me how to do that?
I’m a FTM just starting my transition, and I’m also a student who has NO money to buy proper binders. And I’ve always been a DIY type person.

How do I start an ambulatory/DME service in the state of Texas?

I am looking into starting an ambulatory business and also a durable medical equipment company. I really don’t know where to start. I also need to know what type of consultants there are out there and how much the start up costs will be?

Your best source of consulting to help you get started is actually a free source. Contact your local SCORE Office. SCORE is the Service Corps of Retired Executives, a SBA-affiliated non-profit group of volunteer consultants and they can really get you on the right path to start. Go to http://www.score.org and go to the links that tell you how to contact your local chapter.

On another note, if you are a woman or minority - PLEASE get yourself designated with the State of Texas as a HUB (historically unterutilized business).
